Introduction

This data set compiles a list of locations that accept donations of various items, including furniture, clothing, food, etc. By grouping these locations, we can quickly search for places that will accept specific donations or when the best times are to drop off.

Data

This data was taken from many different sources to create a compilation that is easy and quick to view to find applicable information for donations. Locations now provide information on what they specifically accept

The Salvation Army and Habitat for Humanity/ReStore websites provided for close proximity location to Madison.

The town website for Morristown and Madison provided additional locations for donations and drop-offs including local churches, arts centers, and thrift stores.

Data was geocoded using ArcGIS Online

Results

There were only about 20 locations within Madison and the surrounding areas that conclusively accepted donations of all/most kinds. Many churches remain unlisted for accepting donations. Many of the current listed donation centers were no longer operating or provided outdated information. Most of the locations sat in the middle of Madison and Morristown.

Conclusion

Many listed donation locations are unclear of what they accept or how to make drop-offs. There is a large amount of outdated information and often many that are listed are no longer operating. 

Most of the donation locations on this map are now updated with what they accept. When clicking on each icon, the information displayed will tell you what they take. 

Although a lack of information causes issues with the locations listed on many websites, this map can be used to decide a potential location to drop off unneeded clothing, furniture, or miscellaneous items within or near Madison.

A few locations that do only accept money have been included as they have been clear that the money goes right to improving their charity.

Outdated and irrelevant information has been removed to include only specific donation locations.
