This project aimed to create a map showing the name and location of the nursing homes in Madison. Recognizing the availability of nursing homes is vital for assisting the elderly and their families in making well-informed decisions, as well as for informing policymakers about the community’s resource landscape. Additionally, data on the capacity of the community’s nursing homes could assist with disaster and evacuation preparedness.
The data used for this map includes the location, name, and facility type of different long term care facilities. The data displayed here was last updated on August 7, 2020 but I have verified that it is still an up to date representation of facilities in Madison. The data includes other long term care facilities but only nursing homes in Madison are displayed. Data is provided by NJOGIS and NJ DOH. Additional data on definitions and capacity is provided by NJ DOH
There are facilities in Madison: Sunrise of Madison at 215 Madison Ave and Pine Acres Healthcare and Rehabilitation Centre at 51 Madison Ave. Both are located in the Northwest.

Accessible long term care facilities contribute to the overall health and quality of life of residents, fostering a more supportive and resilient community. Providing services to the senior citizens is a goal Madison strives to achieve. Additionally knowing how many seniors are in the community’s long term care facilities helps Madison prepare for times of crisis .Another ERI project shows what areas are vulnerable to flooding, which in conjunction with this map can help preparedness.
